Siga Funmaker 66, of Wittenberg was given well deserved everlasting life with our Creator on December 22, 2014. She was born on September 15, 1948 in Wausau Wisconsin to George and Violet WhiteWing.
She attended Wittenberg High School, where she graduated in 1966. She later married Perry Funmaker on June 14, 1969. Until recently she realized she married “Eugene Buffalohead” the teenage basketball all-star, back then! They had five children; Lanette, Jamie, Andrew, Katie and Kelly.
She was one of the very first Community Health Representatives for the Ho-Chunk Nation. The CHR Program is one of the oldest professions…in Indian Health. Siga was a CHR for over 45 years, where she not only took care of her family but the entire community as well. President of Farters Anonymous along with Sande Sliwicki, the only two known active members. She served as a Native American Church officer throughout the years and was one of the primary fundraisers for the Native American Church.
Siga was preceded in death by her sister Lauren, her brother, Dallas, and her parents George and Violet WhiteWing. She is survived by her siblings; Gloria Visintin, Ona Garvin of Pittsville, Gary (Lori) WhiteWing, John WhiteWing and Robert WhiteWing all of Wittenberg. Her children include; Lanette (Lawrence) Walker, Jamie Funmaker, Andrew Funmaker of the Oneida Rez, Katie Funmaker of Black River Falls and Kelly Funmaker. Her grandchildren; BreeAnna Walker, Cody Cloud, Danee Walker, Blu Anderson, Dominik Anderson, Lawrence Walker III, Schay Anderson, Sylvia Walker, Olivia Curley, Ethin Hintz, Wesly Hintz and Aaron Thurow. Great Grandchildren; Eli Komanekin, Kate Komanekin. Also survived by several “Hags” and “Nep-pews”.
She enjoyed attending Native American Church services, watching her children and grandchildren’s school activities, a proud supporter of the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers. She was also the writer, graphic designer and editor of the NAC News and the Health Newsy. She enjoyed gambling at Yahtzee where she and Perry would play until the wee hours of the morning. Her favorite past time was bossing Perry around and occasionally throwing a shoe at him from time to time. She especially enjoyed laughing and making others laugh. She just enjoyed life!

Devotional Services will be Saturday and Sunday evening at the Potch Chee Nunk Community Building. Funeral meeting will take place at the Tribal Aging Unit on Witt-Birn Townline Road on Monday, December 29. Commitment Services will take place on Tuesday, December 30,2014 at the Wittenberg Middle School 300 S Prouty Street, meal at 10 am and services at 12 pm. Jamie Mallory will be officiating.
