Marvin Glenn Postler, 82
Marvin G. Postler, age 82, died Sunday, December 28, 2014 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Bohlman Manor, in Birnamwood.
Marvin was born February 5, 1932 in the Township of Birnamwood. His parents were Charles and Edna (Grosinske) Postler. He started life on the family farm, playing hard and working hard. He graduated from Birnamwood High School in 1950, where he lettered in football. In his senior year, he played on the school baseball team, was in the drama club, student council, and voted class president. He played trumpet in the high school band for all four years. Marvin attended college at UW-Stout. After attending college, Marvin joined the U.S. Army. In 1955 he was sent to Ft. Lewis, Washington for basic training. From there he went to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for combat training.
Marvin then returned to Wisconsin, and got a job working at American Motors in Milwaukee. He worked in machine repair. He was a proud member of the UAW, United Automobile Workers. Marvin retired from American Motors in 1994. He retired in the Birnamwood area, where he was born and raised. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed the fellowship of his church family and sharing his faith in Jesus Christ.
Marvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the Green Bay Packers. He was a skilled trout fisherman, and as a cribbage player, he was hard to beat. He was also a skilled pool shot, and enjoyed participating in local pool leagues over the years. Most of all, Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family, creating memories which will live on forever.
Marvin is survived by his four children, Lori (Larry) Mueller, Eland, Jackie Krider, Bayview, Jennifer Postler, Cudahy, and Alan Postler, Bayview; his three grandchildren, Justin Krider, Cudahy, Jessica Postler (Carlos Chairez), Cudahy, and Nathan (Samantha) Mueller, Birnamwood, his four great-grandchildren, Colten, Ryan, Alysee, and Adrian. He was united in marriage to Judith Tullberg, Wittenberg. They later divorced, and Judith survives. He is also survived by a brother, Melvin (Julie) Postler, Ringle and two sisters, Violet Vaughn, Wausau and Jeanne (Roger) Hanson, Waseca, MN. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Postler, Sr.; a sister, Gloria Doyle and a brother, Charles (Shirley) Postler, Jr.
The Funeral Service will be held at 3pm on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. Rev. Lisa Ubbelohde will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Darling-Gunderson American Legion Post #341. Visitation will be on Friday from 1pm until the time of services at the church.
