John Olaf Paulson, 88
John O. Paulson, 88, Wittenberg, died on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.
He was born on July 22, 1926 in Lake Bronson, MN, the son of the late Paul and Anna Johnson. On February 9, 1952, John was united in marriage to Marvilla Wolff in Park Rapids, MN. She preceded him in death on December 26, 2006.
John was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a graduate from the University of California, Berkeley, earning a degree in electrical engineering. John started his career in New York. He then worked for several different companies until retiring from 3-M Corporation, Wausau. John was an avid woodworker and carver and at one time operated his own sawmill.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Roger) Vlietstra, Wittenberg and Kay (Wayne Storch) Hutton, New Richmond; six grandchildren, Kelly, Matt, Marcus, Adam, Rodney and Bonnie; eight great-grandchildren, Gavin, Gracelynn, Gabriella, Marshall, Eleanor, Hannah, Amelia and Rebecca and one sister, Louise Gunnarson, Lake Bronson, MN.
John was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a son, Kenneth, grandson, Levi and two brothers, Henry and Gunnar.
A memorial service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Wittenberg. Rev. Larry Tenhaken will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memories may be shared at schmidtschulta.com
