William Kidd, 81
William Kidd, of Antigo, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 81 years old. He was born on January 30, 1933 in Richland Center, a son of the late Gifford and Fern (Carter) Kidd. He married Geraldine Schiefelbein on June 9, 1956 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo. She survives.
He graduated from Readstown High School and later continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point receiving and Associates Degree in Business Administration.
Mr. Kidd is a Korean War veteran who served in the United States Air Force-Air Police.
He served on the City of Antigo Police Department before becoming employed with Wisconsin Public Service for 36 years.
He enjoyed researching family genealogy and was an avid sports fan.
In addition to his wife survivors include a son, Todd Kidd of Antigo; three daughters, Robin Kidd of La Crosse, Julie (Earl Jr.) Zumach of Richland Center and Sandy (Tom) Ewing of DeForest; two granddaughters, Erin (Nathan) Chase of DeForest and Taylor Kidd of Richland Center; two sisters, Marilyn Scarbrough of Montgomery, IL and Lavina Campton of La Crosse; a brother, Duane (Jean) Kidd of Janesville; and step-mother, Dorothy Ames of Richland Center.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lorelei Ann Kidd; twin sister, Kathleen Abel and brother, Myron Kidd.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Antigo Veterans will conduct military honors at the church following Mass.
