Jean D. Johnson, of Antigo, died Friday, January 30, 2015 while surrounded by her family at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 83 years old.

She was born April 22, 1931 in South Elton, daughter of the late Thomas and Lula (Pennington) Mauk. She married Arthur C. Andres in 1950. She later married Dewey R. Johnson in 1991, and he preceded her in death in January, 2008.

Mrs. Johnson graduated from Antigo High School in 1949. She resided in Wausau, and then lived in Portage from 1968-1989 before returning to Antigo. She was a homemaker, and she dearly loved her family. She also was employed as a floral designer at Rogers Floral in Portage. She loved animals, especially cats, and she also enjoyed music and dancing. She had a knack for decorating and loved watching the birds and other animals in her yard. She volunteered as a cat cuddler at the Langlade County Humane Society.

Survivors include 4 sons, John (Judy) Andres of Oxford, Joel (Janet) Andres of Briggsville, Tim (Jill) Andres of Mauston, and Todd Andres of Green Bay; 9 grandchildren, Dan, Rebecca, Erica, Adam, Jordan, Andy, Autumn, Arthur Christian, and Corinne; and 12 great-grandchildren, Ben, Lily, Allison, Madison, McKenna, Reese, Riley, Kali, Kira, Cole, Simon, and Maci.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Marie Horton, Luella Hein, and Josephine Hunter; a brother, Otis Mauk; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Andres.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 Thursday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Pastor Levi Snyder and her son, John Andres, officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Bent Cemetery.

Memorials in Jean’s name may be directed to the Langlade County Humane Society.
