Evelyn Jane Mortenson, 75
Evelyn Jane Mortenson, age 75, died at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Wisconsin Rapids on March 2, 2015.
Evelyn was born in Antigo, WI on September 10, 1939, a daughter of the late Roy and Nellie (Campbell) Pool. She was raised in the Town of Polar and attended Antigo High School.
On December 2, 1960 she was united in marriage to Jack Mortenson in Wausau, WI. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2004.
As a homemaker, Evelyn enjoyed caring for her family and was an exceptional cook. She loved to sing and play the organ and accordion. She treasured time with her family, enjoying picnics with them and sitting on her deck overlooking the lake. Evelyn was also co-owner of Mortenson Bros. Farms Inc.
Survivors include 5 daughters Sue (Randy ) Podoll of Wisconsin Rapids, Cynthia Verhasselt of Antigo, Jacqueline Mortenson of Baraboo, Tamera (Don) Dahms of Antigo, Jodi (Jim) Hessil of Tomah, a son James (Tracy) Mortenson of Wisconsin Rapids, 15 grandchildren Shawn, Melanie, and Matthew Podoll, Jeffrey and Michael Strobel, Heather Verhasselt, Riley Dahms, Steven, Stacy and Jack Hessil, John, Hannah, Max, Grace, and Audrey Mortenson, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 3 sisters Tomiena (Dale) Erlandson of Antigo, Sandra (Jim) Gardner of Green Bay, Bonnie (Roger) Passow Minoqua, 3 brothers, Bill (Kathy) Pool of Michigan, Tom Pool and Jim (Kathy) Pool of Polar, and a sister-in-law Sheila Pool of Kentucky.
In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Mortenson, a son John, a sister Ethel Kosinski and her husband Edward Kosinski, 2 brothers Roy and Albert Pool, and son-in-law, Larry Verhasselt.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until noon at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at noon at the funeral home. Reverend John K. Grohs will officiate. Interment will be in Aniwa Cemetery.
