Marlene H. Below, 75
Marlene H. Below, age 75, of Antigo, died peacefully Monday March 9th, 2015 at home with her family by her side after a courageous 12 year battle with multiple myeloma.
Marlene was born in Antigo on September 1st, 1939, a daughter of the late Ruford and Helen (Fietz) Hansen. She attended Peace Lutheran School and in 1957 she graduated from the Antigo High School. On September 14, 1957, she was united in marriage to
David A. Below, he survives.
As a homemaker, Marlene enjoyed shopping especially for and with her grandchildren, frequenting various restaurants and mostly spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir and played in the bell choir. She was a hospital auxiliary member and also a fireman’s auxiliary member. She played the clarinet in the Antigo Community bands for several years. She loved her trips to Hawaii, trips with friends, loved fishing on the dock at Pelican Lake, going to family sports events and attending Brooke and Dawn’s horse shows.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Jeffrey (Mary) of Birnamwood, Douglas (Julia), Greg (Catherine) both of Antigo; one daughter, Dawn (David) Brandow of Antigo; 9 grandchildren, Zachary (Chelsea) Below, Barbara Jo Below, Beau (fiancé Lindsey)Below,
Britney (Chad)Below-Bolkema, Blake Below, Cody Below, Danielle Below,
Brooke (fiancé Tylor) Brandow and Colton Brandow; three sisters,
Shirley Hoague, Fern Schumacker and Carol Gisiner.
In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Hansen.
Her service will be at Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo on Friday at 12:00 p.m. with Vicar Dan Bodin officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
