Robert (Bob) P. Eiter, age 94, died on March 17, 2015 at UW Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin. He was born on June 28, 1920 in Racine, Wisconsin and later moved with his family to Antigo. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1940 and served in the Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He married Carol Ann Walk on November 5, 1952.
He and his brother Edward operated the Eiter Sausage Factory in Antigo and subsequently Bob became a PGA Professional and was the club pro at the Antigo-Bass Lake Country Club, retiring in 1985. Following retirement, he and his wife Carol moved to Lake Worth, Florida, year-round and lived there for several years before moving to Madison to be closer to their daughter and her family. While in Antigo, Bob was a member of the Elk’s Lodge and a member of the PGA of America. In Florida, he belonged to the Holy Name of Jesus Christ church of Lake Worth.
Bob was the son of the late Andrew and Louise Eiter. He is survived by his wife, his son Robert, Jr. (Wendy) of Fayetteville, AR; a daughter Lu (Duane) Schuettpelz of Madison, WI; two grandsons, Brent (Whitney) Schuettpelz and Craig (Sara Harkins) Schuettpelz of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward.
Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend will be dearly missed for his warmth and good humor and open acceptance of all that life had to offer. Thank you ‘pro’ for adding color to our lives. We love you and will miss you every day. A memorial service for Bob (and Carol) will be held in their honor at a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the UW Hospital ER and cardio unit for their excellent care.
