John V Marckx, 88

John V. Marckx, of Summit Lake, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. He was 88 years old. He was born on August 5, 1926 in Kimberly, a son of the late Alfonse and Marie (Brugman) Marckx. He married Rita Savina on April 14, 1951, she preceded him in death on March 18, 1979. He married Lillian (Eilber) Butzin on September 28, 1991, she survives.

He was a graduate of Kaukauna High School.

Mr. Marckx served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946.

He moved to Northern Wisconsin to help his parents establish the Big Pine Resort in Post Lake. He was a member of the pipe fitters union local 434 for 38 years.

Mr. Marckx was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Elcho and the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post 377, Elcho.

He loved hunting, fishing and above all his family including his cat, Sammy. He enjoyed being outdoors, woodworking and bird watching.

Survivors include two daughters, Gayle Marckx of Colfax, IL and Debi Thomas of Pickerel; a son, Dave (Bonnie) Marckx of Palmetto, FL; five grandchildren, Jason (Sheila) Marckx, Nathan (Heidi) Marckx, Jessy (Sarah) Evanson, Ashley Evanson all of Antigo and Shawna Donohue of Schofield; five great-grandchildren, Adison, Alyssa, Saveah, Hayden and one on the way; two step-daughters, Beverly (Mark) Mangerson of Rhinelander and Ursula Puerling of Milwaukee; and a step-son, Thomas (Sanjuana) Butzin of Beaver Dam.

In addition to his first wife, Rita, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Emily Magnuson, Josephine Starznski and Janet Basco.

A private family memorial will be held.
