Raymond Schroepfer, 86
Raymond Charles Schroepfer, age 86, of Antigo, died Wednesday April 8, 2015. Ray was under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and his family at Care Partners Assisted Living.
Ray was born on August 28, 1928 in Antigo to the late Frank and Florence (Spychalla) Schroepfer.
On July 2, 1949 he was united in marriage to Shirley Neufeld. She survives.
Ray was employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory, sold roofing and siding for Tradwell Building and also sold and serviced fire equipment for Servi Fire Equipment.He then became a firefighter for the City of Antigo, serving from 1952 until his retirement in 1983.
He was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1946. He enjoyed bowling and playing baseball. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and teaching his grandchildren and great grandchildren those enjoyments. He also was proficient in woodburning artwork and mounted several thousand deer antlers.
Ray was a lifelong member of SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter Luann (Les) Barske of Antigo, 4 sons, Larry (Deanna) of Green Bay, Steven (Jackie) of Antigo, Ronald (Cami) of Antigo, Tim (Amy) of Howard, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Norbert (Janice) of Antigo and Jerry (Judy) of Antigo.
Ray was preceded in death by a son Mark, a sister Irene Schroepfer, a brother Don Schroepfer, and 2 sister-in-laws Betty and Rosemary Schroepfer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 12 noon at SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church Reverend David Schmidt will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the service. Burial will be in Queen of Peace Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Ray’s name.
