Sybil Dewey, 97
Sybil Dewey, of Elcho, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was 97 years old. She was born on March 11, 1918 in Antigo, a daughter of Arthur and Myrtle (Litts) Tillman. She married Russell Dewey on July 31, 1937 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1978.
After marriage she lived in the town of Antigo. In 1958 the family moved to Menomonee Falls where she worked at Kohls Food Store Inc. as a Deli manager for 20 years. She retired in 1984. Sybil moved to Post Lake in 1987. She enjoyed snowmobiling, quilting, crocheting, ceramics, playing cribbage, time on the lake and fishing.
Survivors include four daughters, Janice Besler of Mequon, Janine (Daniel) Kania of Slinger, Gail (Michael) Lane of West Bend, Marla (Ronald) Meer of Elcho; three sons, Daniel (Judy) Dewey of Antigo, Dustin (Barbara) Dewey of West Bend, James Dewey of Stevens Point; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Joann Meidl of Jefferson, Sharon Smith of Schofield.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Dewey, a son-in-law, Donald Besler; three sisters, Shirley Meidl, Theda Tillman, Louise Kuney; two brothers, Eugene and Donald Tillman.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday April 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church in Hoffmann Hall Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
