The Antigo High School Band presented their spring concert Sunday afternoon, May 3rd in the Volm Theater. The concert theme was “Outside the Box” and included many unique pieces performed by both the concert and symphonic band, including music from “Mamma Mia” and “Les Miserables”.

AHS Concert Band - MazamaThe AHS Concert Band included a piece entitled “Mazama, Legend of the Pacific Northwest”, a contemporary tone poem that evokes the moods and spirit of an American Indian saga. The AHS Symphonic Band included a piece entitled “Earhart – Sounds of Courage”, based on the story of Amelia Earhart, which continues to capture the imaginations of aviators and historians worldwide. They also performed “Crystals”, a one-movement tone poem, divided into four sections that each musically represent a type of crystal. One member of the band played a didgeridoo, and the percussion section even submerged a large gong in a tub of water.
