Jan “Yon” Drewniak, 56

Jan “Yon” Drewniak, of Pickerel, died Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 56 years old. He was born on May 17, 1959 in Wroclaw, Poland, a son of Teresa Drewniak of Antigo and the late Andrezej Drewniak. He married Kathy Ewig on July 27, 2004.

While in Poland he received his degree in electrical engineering. He moved to the United States in 1981. He was employed at Oki Telecommunications in Florida and Georgia he then moved to California and was employed by Sony and Qualcomm. He owned and operated the Sunset Bay Resort on Pickerel Lake for 15 years.

He enjoyed boating, skiing, mushroom picking and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed the company and all the good time he shared with his patrons at the resort.

In addition to his wife and mother survivors include two sons, Robert Drewniak of Pickerel, Michael (Megan) Drewniak of Milwaukee; daughter, Angel Drewniak of Pickerel; step-son, John Scott (Maria) Schey of Ironwood, MI; step-daughter, Heather Ann (Joseph) Bazille-Grisius; seven grandchildren, Gage, Aiden, Kayne, Nikoli, Rowan, Jensen and Corbin; and a sister-in-law, Cyndia Ewig of Merrill. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins in Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, May 23 at Sunset Bay Resort beginning at 3 p.m.

The Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family.
