Work to replace the WIS 47 bridge over the Red River (Phlox) and extend the box culvert over the West Branch of the Red River (Norwood) is scheduled to begin Monday, May 18.
Pheifer Brothers Construction is the prime contractor for the $1.1 million project. Additional improvements include installation of sidewalk on the north side of WIS 47, erosion control, and the construction of a retaining wall.
WIS 47 will be closed at the Red River bridge during construction. Traffic will be detoured via US 45, WIS 64, and WIS 55. Motorists can also expect to encounter temporary traffic signals at the culvert over the West Branch of the Red River.
Construction is scheduled for completion in late July 2015. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction status.
Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
