Emogene Ella Huebner, 97
Emogene Ella Huebner, age 97, died Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Autumn Lane Family Care under the care of her family and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.
She was born Aug. 2, 1917 in Clintonville, daughter of the late William P. and Elsa (Schmidt) Smith. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1935. She was united in marriage to Orville Huebner on Sept. 27, 1935. They moved to their farm in Mattoon in 1936. Orville preceded her in death on April 13, 2009.
Mrs. Huebner was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church as an infant, and she remained a church member for her entire life.
She was a homemaker and mother, and she enjoyed arts and crafts. She especially loved dancing.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Brown of Phoenix, AZ; 2 sons, Clark (Karen) Huebner of Antigo, Gene (Tamara Kowalski) Huebner of Antigo; 4 grandchildren, Wayne Huebner of Antigo, Todd (Charlotte) Huebner of Antigo, Craig (Tina) Brown of Phoenix, and Michelle (Jody) Giese of Mosinee; 7 great- grandchildren, Ryan, Tory, and Nathan Huebner, Tyler Brown, Jerik (Renee), Jervet, and Jianca Giese; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Edwin Brown; sister, Dora Frisch; and brother, Clarence Smith.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mattoon. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 Monday at the church. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Mattoon. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
