Richard “Dick” W. Bergman, 88
Richard “Dick” W. Bergman, age 88, lifelong resident of the Town of Summit, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at his home.
Dick was born on October 14, 1926 in Merrill, WI to the late Julius R. and Philomena M. (Tichacek) Bergman. He attended Sunnyslope Grade School and graduated from Antigo High School in 1944.
He was united in marriage to Elaine McKinney on August 24, 1960 at the Bergman homestead.
Dick was a logger, hunter, dairy and sheep farmer, and worked for the Department of Natural Resources in fire control, manning the Clear Lake, Harrison Hills and K towers. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Dick was very active in and committed to the community in which he lived. He was the town chairman & town supervisor for the Town of Summit. He served on the Board of Directors for the Farm Bureau.
In addition to his wife Elaine, Dick is survived by three daughters, Rozanne Bergman of Gleason, Marianne (Richard) Lohfink of Merrill and Julianne (Scott) Oberg of Irma and one son, Richard (Debra) Bergman of Madison, mother-in-law, Irene McKinney Haig(nee Glugla) of Merrill, five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Robert) Wildman, Sheena Oberg, Kathleen (Steve) Rauchle, Jacob Lohfink, Kevin Montabon, three great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Ally and Samantha, and by his children Suzanne and William Montabon from a prior marriage.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, two infant children, Joanne and Patrick Bergman, a sister, Pearl Henrich, two brother-in-laws Merle Henrich and Bernard McKinney, two father-in-laws Bernard McKinney and Herbert Haig, and a grandchild, Robert Montabon.
A service of remembrance & sharing will be held on Friday, June 19th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Visitation will also be at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the service. Later that day, inurnment will be held at the Town of Summit Cemetery.
