Sidewalk Sales are coming up in downtown Wausau on Thursday, July 9 through Sunday, July 12. The event is a part of Wausau’s big weekend where four major events all coincide: Sidewalk Sales, Chalkfest, Balloon Rally and Rib Fest.

Thursday through Sunday, downtown shops will decorate the sidewalks with all sorts of merchandise for passerby to browse through. Sidewalk Sales offer great sales and promotions, perfect for the bargain hunter. Get spectacular deals on apparel, shoes, accessories, sporting goods, books, artwork and so much more. Last year’s Sidewalk Sales featured the best deals of the year in downtown Wausau, including racks of clothes on sale for $1!

The eleventh year of Chalkfest will begin on Saturday, July 11 and will end the following day. The Center for the Visual Arts will assist in coordinating the colorful event that is perfect for all ages. Spectators are gladly welcomed to watch the artists transform the 400 block into a work of art.

Crayola is sponsoring Chalkfest this year and has chosen a local artist to create a surprise drawing in the center square.

The Balloon Rally and Rib Fest will take place at the Wausau Municipal Airport. A free shuttle bus will run between the 400 block and the airport on Friday, July 10 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, July 11 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. to take people back and forth from the events.
Sidewalk Sales are the perfect time to explore downtown shops, grab an ice cream cone and relax along the Wisconsin River.

This year Wausau Events, Inc. and Wausau River District, Inc. are working together to bring in vendors and musicians and open up Fourth Street and Jefferson Street to pedestrians to accommodate the overflow on the 400 block.

From watching artists create masterpieces on the sidewalk to being able to take home a work of art from a local vendor, Sidewalk Sales are creating a full circle art experience this year.
