Thelma Elizabeth Remington, 97
Thelma Elizabeth Remington, of Antigo, died at Langlade Hospital under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and special friend, Connie Newman on Friday, June 26, 2015. She was 97 years old.
She was born Feb. 15, 1918 in Cairnes, Queensland, Australia, daughter of the late Jacob and May (O’Calligan) Graham. She married Weston Remington on Dec. 22, 1942 in Brisbane, Australia. Mrs. Remington came to the US on the SS Mariposa, landing in San Francisco on March 6, 1946. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 2008.
Mrs. Remington was a homemaker. She had a great love for animals, and enjoyed feeding the neighborhood squirrels and birds. She also liked crafts, especially embroidery and crocheting.
She was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church, and she enjoyed volunteering for church activities.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Ann Graham, and Mrs. Leon Waters (Terri) both of Australia; and a brother, Steve Graham of Australia; many nieces and nephews; and many special friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Anne Remington; 2 sisters, Estelle and Eileen; and 3 brothers, Bill, Jim, and Joe.
A funeral mass will take place at 10:30 Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 at the church’s Hoffmann Hall. Burial will take place at a later date alongside her husband in Elmwood Cemetery. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
