Deadline for applying is July 23

The Wisconsin State Patrol is recruiting for troopers and inspectors for its next recruit class, which will begin training on January 10, 2016, and graduate on July 1, 2016. Previous recruit classes have ranged in size from 25 to 52 cadets.

Successful candidates will receive a salary plus meals and lodging while attending 25 weeks of training (Monday to Friday) at the State Patrol Academy at Fort McCoy.

Applicants are required to apply on-line at wisc.jobs (http://wisc.jobs/public/index.asp, search for 1502076) by Thursday, July 23, 2015. On their online form, applicants will select their preferred location and dates for a multiple-choice examination, which will be administered at the following sites:

  • The Plaza Hotel & Suites in Eau Claire, 1202 W. Clairemont Avenue, on Wednesday, July 29.
  • Hill Farms State Transportation Building in Madison, 4802 Sheboygan Avenue, on Wednesday, July 29, and Thursday, July 30.
  • Northcentral Technical College in Wausau, 1000 W. Campus Drive, on Thursday, July 30, and Friday, July 31.
  • Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee, 2810 Golf Road, on Monday, August 3, and Tuesday, August 4.

Applicants are urged to make necessary work and personal arrangements in advance.

Exams will be scored onsite, and applicants will be notified of the results immediately. The most qualified applicants will move to the next step of the process. Applicants who were previously considered must reapply and start the process from the beginning.

For more information about the qualifications for becoming a State Patrol trooper or inspector, check the WisDOT website at http://www.wisconsindot.gov (click on “About WisDOT” then “Careers”).

The State Patrol is an equal opportunity employer.  Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
