Dale “Monk” Morse, 76

Dale “Monk” Morse, of Elcho, WI died Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at his home under the care of Ministry Hospice. He was 76 years old. He was born on June 6, 1939 in Antigo, Wisconsin a son of the late Clarence and Marie (Fanenf) Morse. He married Marion Potts of Indiana in June of 1965.
The couple lived in Portage and Valparaiso, Indiana for 24 years, moving to Elcho, Wisconsin in 1989. Dale attended Thomas Edison High School and played semi-pro football for three years for Calumet Steels both in Gary, Indiana.
He was a welder for Inland Steel Mill in Gary for 31 years. His second career was as a janitor for the Elcho School District and Mole Lake Casino.
Dale was a devoted Green Bay Packer Fan, his hobbies and interests included hunting, fishing, bowling, archery, horseshoes, football and baseball. He was an assistant football coach for POP Warner Football in the 1980’s. He became an artist using rod iron; his creations can be seen all over Langlade County Wisconsin and Porter County Indiana.
Survivors include daughters, Suzanne Nickler of Freeburg, PA and daughter, Patty Ensign of Elcho, WI; son, Kenneth (Cathy) Ensign of Hobart, IN; seven grandchildren, Kyle and Drew Nickler, Marion Fawn Ensign, Chris, Joshua, Jacob, Jennifer Ensign; six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Janet Morse in May 2015 and brother, Robert Morse in 1952.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home.
