Gene Taylor, 83
Gene Taylor died Monday, September 21, 2015 at the age of 83.
A son of the late Glen and Iva (Rose) Taylor, Gene was born on June 2, 1932 at the family home near White Lake. After growing up on the farm, he began working at the Robbins Flooring Mill. He helped support his family by working there for 39 years, and he retired in 1994.
Gene loved being retired and free to pursue his hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking and making maple syrup. As the years went by, the hunting turned into feeding and photographing the deer; and wading the creeks became fishing from a boat or the shore and finding someone to give his catch to.
Gene was pretty good at growing and giving away radishes, and he thoroughly enjoyed cruising his local roads.
Gene is survived by his brother, Floyd, of Elton; three sisters, Loretta Strong of White Lake, Donna (Bill) Ewert of Antigo, and Ella (Dee) Shelley of Tigerton; brother-in-law, Herb Tetzke; sister-in-law Barb Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clarence; two sisters, Julia (in infancy), and Linda Tetzke; brother-in-law Walter Strong; and sister-in-law Janice Taylor.
A private service for Gene’s family was held on Friday with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
