Mildred “Millie” Van Dorf, 88

Mildred “Millie” Van Dorf, of Antigo, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. She was 88 years old. She was born on November 11, 1927 in Sullivan, WI a daughter of Paul and Catherine (Coffey) Garity. She married William Van Dorf on September 28, 1946 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sullivan. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1998.

After marriage the couple lived in Wales, Wisconsin. She worked at the Masonic Home in Dousman and the Envelope Factory which became Poniks Manufacturing in Wales where she was a machine press operator.

She moved to Antigo in 1971. Millie and her husband owned and operated Van Dorf’s Bar in the town of Antigo from 1971 to 1986.

She was a newspaper delivery lady for the Antigo Daily Journal and Milwaukee Journal for seven years.

She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Langlade County Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed bowling, dancing, cooking and gardening – especially flowers.

Survivors include a son, Fred (Charlene) Van Dorf, Antigo; two daughters, Judy (Ronald) Low, Phillipsburg, Missouri, Shirley (Lee) Garton, Deerbrook; a sister, Florence Lambrecht, Antigo; five grandchildren: David, Keith and Allen Garton, Brad (Jamie) Van Dorf, Heather (Steven) Waas; five great-grandchildren Ariana, Sierra and Brynn Garton, Wacey Garton and Conner Van Dorf; a grand son-in-law, James Rogers.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Cynthia Rogers; four sisters, Agnes Chapel, Dorothy Olson, Irene Eppers and Ruth in infancy; three brothers, John, LeRoy and Ralph Garity.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 16, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
