Winter Festival, Three Bear Winter Sled Dog Races & Midwest American Championship February 5th-7th 9am-4pm. Downtown, Land O’Lakes. Three days of premier racing by the best of the best sled dog teams throughout the USA & Canada. The Midwest American Championships will be held again in Wisconsin. In addition to great sled dog racing, Saturday includes Mutt races. Races proceed throughout the area on groomed rural trails. Mushers Ball (Sat. evening), winter games & concessions. Tombstone Pickerel Snowmobile Club Trail Ride February 6th 9:30am Meet at Clubhouse, Hwy. DD, Pickerel. Departing at 10am. The participants will determine the length of the ride, therefore determining the destination.
The 13th Annual Deerbrook Bridge Runners ‘Classic Cruise’ February 6th 10am Quinn’s Bar, N5298 Cty. Rd. A, Neva. A snowmobile ride/show for vintage sleds (new sleds are welcome also!) Registration begins at 10 a.m., ride at noon. A $10 entry fee gets you a commemorative lapel pin, a chance to win $100, a chance to win a door prize, soup and sandwich after the ride. We will also be selling tickets ($5 each or three for $10) for a chance to win (first prize) a restored 1978 Polaris Cobra (or $500), (second prize) $300, (third prize) $150, and (fourth prize) $75. 41st Annual Red Arrow Snowmobile Club Fish-A-Ree February 6th-7th 11am-6pm Sat. & 11am -4pm Sun. Townsend Town Hall, Hwy 32, Townsend. This is a “Family Fun” event. Come by sled, car, truck or van. The event is open to the public & features DJ music, food, beverages, raffles & a fishing contest. Prizes will be awarded for several fish categories by weight. In addition, all 2nd & 3rd place fish will be entered in a drawing for 2 bonus prizes. Finally, all entries will be in a drawing for a $50 gas card. Fish can be caught at any lake with 20 miles of Townsend & must be caught during the event. All funds raised are used to maintain & better the snowmobile & ATV trails in the Townsend area.
