Andrew “Andy” John Bertsch, of Antigo, WI died February 25, 2016 at Langlade Hospital at the age of 65.

He was born September 4, 1950 in Deadwood, SD, son of Evelyn May (Clingman) Bertsch of Lead, SD and the late Elton Ernest Bertsch. He married Cynthia Unruh on December 27, 1975 in New Raymer, CO.

Andy grew up in South Dakota, graduating from high school in Lead, SD. He earned an associate’s degree in Industrial Management through the Community College of Denver.

Andy and Cynthia resided in the Denver area until 1987. They moved to the Antigo area, where Andy was employed in various facets of management for Hydratight Sweeney. He most recently served as Continuous Improvement Project Leader for Hydratight.

Andy had a serious interest in photography, and he especially loved shooting the Lake Superior shoreline, the Blackhills and Badlands of South Dakota and the Colorado Rocky Mountains. He walked the shores of Lake Superior with his camera in his hand. He enjoyed exploring new areas for outdoor scenic and nature photography. He was also an avid fly fisherman. Time with his wife, children and grandchildren brought him much joy.

He was a member of Antigo Community Church for many years and was most recently a member of Highland Community Church in Wausau.

In addition to his wife Cynthia of Antigo and his mother, Andy is survived by; 2 daughters, Callie Bertsch of Rhinelander, and Cathy (Ken) Symes of Port Washington; a son Cameron (fiancé Janice) of Duluth; 2 grandchildren Ainslie and William Symes; 2 brothers, Jim (Jane) Bertsch, and David Bertsch, 2 nieces Jill and Jessica and their families.

A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Monday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home, with Pastor Ken Moberg officiating. Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A memorial in his name will be established for cancer research.
