Lorraine G. Michels, 88
Lorraine G. Michels, age 88, of Antigo died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at her home.
Lorraine was born on August 21, 1927 to the late Herman and Helen (Rabe) Bruening in Town of Polar.
On October 8, 1949 she was united in marriage to Julius Michels at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Polar. Julius preceded her in death on December 28, 2013.
Lorraine graduated from Antigo High School. She worked at the shoe factory and glove factory and was also a homemaker. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Michels Agricultural Service, Farmers Elevator, and M&R Service Garage.
Lorraine and Julius were avid baseball fans and enjoyed watching games together. She also liked spending time at Post Lake with friends and family, planting flowers, bowling, and playing cards and games on Facebook. She liked trips to the casino. Lorraine and Julius also had good times taking camping trips with their family and friends.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Polar.
Survivors include a daughter Cheryl Meyer of Wausau, 6 sons, Ron, Dennis, Jerome all of Antigo, Ken of Ringle, Kevin of Wausau, Keith of Bryant, 10 grandchildren, Brent (Trina) Meyer, Melissa Meyer, Corey (fiancé Ashley) Meyer, Benjamin (Sara) Michels, Jonathon Michels, Jacob Michels, Amanda (Lenny) Miglieri, Brandon (Sheila) Michels, Justin (Megan) Michels, Abigail Michels, 9 great grandchildren, Logan, Alisen, Marcus, RyAnn, Kylee, Aybree, Brooke, Dane and Emma, 2 sister-in-laws, Ruth Walters of Appleton and Rosemary (Glenn) Kegley of Antigo.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Cathy Michels, a sister Fern Mathison, and a sister-in-law, Delores Knorr.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Polar, with Rev. Donald Engebretson officiating.
Vistation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Interment will follow the service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial will be established in Lorraine’s name.
