Norman Sontag, 81
Norman J. Sontag, of Lily, died Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. He was 81 years old. He was born on December 9, 1934 in Ringle, a son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Stienke) Sontag. He married Edith Schmidt on August 30, 1958 in Milwaukee. She survives.
He was a graduate of Birnamwood High School.
Mr. Sontag proudly served in the United States Army from January 26, 1955 to December 31, 1965, followed by six years in the Army Reserves.
He was employed at Joseph P. Jansen Construction Company in Milwaukee. Following retirement he moved to Lily.
He was a 50 year member of the operating engineers union and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Sandra Hastings of Brookfield; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Sontag and two sisters, Marion and Lorraine.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 12 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Pickerel with Rev. David Zimmerman officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass. White Lake veterans will conduct military honors at the church following the Mass. Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Pickerel in the Spring
