Mary A. Gardner, 92, Birnamwood, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.
She was born on April 12, 1923 in the town of Aniwa, the daughter of the late August and Emma (Madson) Umland.
On October 11, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to Roy Gardner in Birnamwood. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2003.
Mary was a homemaker and also worked for Reynolds Sugar Bush, Aniwa. She will be remembered for being a great cook and baker. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and her embroidery. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include seven children; Carol Stadler, Aniwa, Gloria (Paul Tanasescu) Gardner, Pleasant Hill, CA, Shirley (Kenneth) Markgraf, Aniwa, Gary (Emily) Gardner, Birnamwood, Alan (Robin) Gardner, Aniwa, Jack Gardner and Neal Gardner, both of Birnamwood; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Luella Schmidt, Wittenberg and Lois Plautz, Pulaski.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Donald; grandson, Jason; granddaughter, Angela; son-in-law, Ervin Stadler Sr., brother, Alfred Umland and four sisters, Elsie Scholz, Ruth Thiex, Dora Uttecht and Delores Guyette.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. Rev. Barry Levine will officiate. Inurnment will be in Union Cemetery, Aniwa. Visitation will be on Monday from 9AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
