Michelle Ann Koss, 53

Michelle Ann Koss, of Bryant, died on March 22, 2016 at the age of 53.

She was born May 6, 1962 in Antigo, daughter of Michael and Judy (Follstad) Black. She married Tom Koss on November 28, 1992 at the Black family home in Kempster.

Michelle was a 1980 graduate of Elcho High School. She worked for as a medical assistant for Dr. Fox and Dr. McKenna at the General Clinic. She later attended nursing school at Northcentral Technical College, and worked with Dr. Turnbull as a registered nurse for many years. She most recently worked as registered nurse and diabetic educator at Langlade Hospital.

She established and managed the Jack Lake Splash and Dash, and also supported and participated in many other outdoor events and activities. She enjoyed spending time at Sawyer Lake with her family and friends.

She was a member of St. Wencel’s Catholic Church in Neva.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Koss of Bryant; parents Michael and Judy Black of Kempster; a daughter, Heidi (Matt) Jaeckel of Lyons, CO; 4 sons, Brady Koss of Antigo, Trevor Koss of Seattle, WA, Aaron Koss, currently attending UW-Milwaukee, and Colin Koss of Antigo; a granddaughter, Luna Jaeckel of Lyons, CO; 4 sisters, Colleen (Glen) Krivoshein of Antigo, Mary Lynn Russo of North Carolina, Amy (Todd) Joerns of Rhinelander, and Carrie (Tim) Barnes of Milwaukee; a brother, Mark (Debbie) Black of Kempster; father-in-law Stanley Koss of Antigo; many nieces and nephews; and Tom’s 7 brothers and sisters and their families.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Betty Koss.

A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Antigo, with Father David Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s Catholic Church, with parish wake service at 4:00 and rosary at 7:00. A second visitation will be 9:30-11:00 Monday at the church.

Memorials in Michelle’s name will be divided evenly among Antigo High School’s cross country, swimming, and track programs.
