David J. Kaplenski, 67
David J. Kaplenski, of Elcho, died Monday, April 18, 2016 at home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 67 years old. He was born on May 23, 1948 in Standish, Mich. a son of Joseph and Mary (Kasumba) Kaplenski. He married his soul mate Connie Dyer on August 26, 1992 in Las Vegas, Nev.
David was a truck driver for 46 years most recently for Prochnow Trucking. Along with his wife, he owned Koni K’s Restaurant and the Korner Pub in Elcho.
He loved spending time with his family and telling jokes.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Connie; mother, Mary Kaplenski of Standish, Mich.; a brother, Nick (Gail) Kaplenski of Bay City, Mich.; daughter, Christine Hamer of South Sioux City, NE; three step-sons, Steven (Ronda) Etherington of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Gary (Debra) Etherington of Antigo and Bob Morrison of Elcho; three step-daughters, Tammy Etherington of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Shelly Visser of Appleton and Kim (George) King of Parrish; and a brother-in-law, Ken Woloszyk of Muskegon, Mich. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Kaplenski; and sister, Roxanne “Sandy” Woloszyk.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the funeral home.
The family extends a special thank you to Sharon, Diane and Shelley of LeRoyer Hospice for the loving care they provided to Dave in his final days.
