Social Host

Prom season is among us and soon comes graduation parties. Parents, guardians, and chaperones should be reminded that the City of Antigo has an ordinance detailing what it means to be a, “Social Host,” and it’s penalties.

Section 22-126 discourages underage possession and consumption of alcohol, even if done within the confines of a private residence. The ordinance holds persons civilly responsible who host events or gathering where persons under the age of 21 possess or consume alcohol regardless of whether the person hosting the event supplied the alcohol.

No person may host an event at any premises under the person’s control whether public or private where alcohol is present and fail to prevent the consumption of alcohol by underage persons.

A premise includes home, yard, farm, field, land, apartment, hotel room, park, or hall. To view the entire ordinances go to www.antigo-city.org
