Joseph Cleveland Steagall, 84
Joseph Cleveland Steagall, age 84, of Antigo died at his home Saturday, April 9, 2016. He was under the care of his family, Hands with Heart, and LeRoyer Hospice.
Joe was born on January 29, 1932 to the late Henry and Gladys (Palmer) Steagall in White Lake.
He was united in marriage to Florentine “Tina” Salomon in 1956 in Germany. She preceded him in death on January 9, 2012.
Joe attended high school in White Lake and was known as “Cleve” during those years. He then enlisted in the US Army. He retired from the Army after 20 years of service with the rank of sergeant and later returned to Langlade County.
He enjoyed fishing, working on his hobby farm, feeding and watching songbirds, and was truly an animal lover. He was always there with a helping hand.
Survivors include his daughters Thelma (Timothy) Ryan of Antigo and Yutta Salomon of Wausau, 3 grandchildren Jamesion Lambert, Rachel (Joe) Reszko, Erik Hitz, 1 great grandchild Andrew Jamesion Lambert, a sister Velma (George) Packard of Antigo, a brother, Willie Stegall of Hatley and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother Russell Steagall and a grandson Mark Joseph Lambert.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Reverend Wes Jedras will officiate. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 until the service at the funeral home. Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
