Catherine Cecilia Johnson, 79
Catherine C. Johnson, 79, Birnamwood, died on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born on March 12, 1937 in Birnamwood the daughter of the late Clarence and Viola (Meverden) Tautges.
Catherine lived in the town of Plover all her life. She graduated from Birnamwood High School in 1955. On November 26, 1955, Catherine was united in marriage to Cecil Johnson at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Aniwa. He survives. The couple was married for over 60 years. She worked at Kautza’a IGA for 20 years, farmed with her husband and also worked at Marathon Press in Wausau. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Aniwa and it’s Christian Mother’s Society. Catherine enjoyed her family, friends, making fire wood, mowing lawn, fishing and playing cards.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil of Wittenberg; daughter, Catherine (Peter) Marien; grandchildren, Christopher (Kim) Marien and Jason Marien; great-grandchildren, Dakota Marien, Taylor Marien and Madison Marien; sister, Veronica Paskiewicz and sister-in-law, Mardella Tautges.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Herbert Tautges and brother-in-law, Joe Paskiewicz.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11AM on Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. Fr. Anthony Ibekwe will officiate. Interment will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemtery, Aniwa. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4PM to 8PM at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood and again on Friday from 10AM until the time of Mass at the church.
