Gladys “Gee Gee” Gnat, 91
Gladys “Gee Gee” Gnat died Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Cedar Creek Manor of Wausau.
Gee Gee was born on December 31, 1924 in Antigo to the late John Sr. and Edith (Retzlaff) Walters. She attended Peace Lutheran School and graduated from Antigo High School in 1941. After high school Gee Gee worked at Gunkel’s Bakery, was the manager of the catalog department at Montgomery Wards, and also worked at supper clubs in the area including the Fifth Avenue. On November 25, 1946, Gee Gee married Richard Gnat. Gee Gee was a lifelong resident of Antigo. She was a member at Peace Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Mayflower Women’s Club, former president of Langlade Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Antigo High School Band Parents Association, and for thirty years she was a volunteer for Red Cross at Langlade Memorial Hospital. She was also very active in 4H Club activities. After her husband’s death, Gee Gee worked at Walmart. She was also very devoted to her family.
Survivors of Gee Gee include, two daughters, Jane (Anthony) Pawelski of Wausau and Joyce (Harlan) Schoepke of Wausau; and two grandsons, William (Stacy) Schoepke of Wausau and John Pawelski of Wausau.
In addition to her parents, and husband Gee Gee was preceded in death by two brothers, John Jr. Walters and Bill Walters and her sister, Bernice Kubiak.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran. A burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery following the funeral service.
