Fiscal management on target at Antigo City Council meeting
By Craig Marx, Editor
A short Antigo Common Council meeting on Wednesday, June 8 adjourned just before 6:30 p.m. with Mayor Bill Brandt once again taking the helm after an absence last month.
David Maccoux, a consulting accountant with Schenck Government and Not-for-Profit Solutions, briefly examined and discussed the council’s previous fiscal year and the positives that the City of Antigo can take moving forward.
“The [recent] city audit went really well. Everyone was well prepared and well organized,” Maccoux said. “We found very consistent results [in Antigo] and there are no concerns with the city’s funds as you roll into the 2016 fiscal year. You’ve really managed your funds going forward. The debt has come down over the past couple years.”
All consent agenda items, new resolutions, and licenses passed, including the addition of a liquor license for Belle’s Smokehouse, a downtown restaurant that recently added karaoke to its entertainment line-up.
The grandfather clause of the city’s pit bull ban was also deleted by the council.
The next Antigo Common Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 13 at 6 p.m. from City Hall.
