Antigo Youth Theater puts on “The Emperor’s New Clothes”
For the Antigo Times
The Antigo Youth Theater presents “The Emperor’s New Clothes” on Wednesday, June 29th at 6:30pm on the Antigo High School Volm Stage. Admission is a canned food item for the local food pantry.
Students, grades 5-9, have come together to put on this production. This is the 10th year of the Antigo Youth Theater. Each year students from all over the district prepare and present a show, usually with some kind of moral, which has delighted both family and the community. This year’s production is surely to please the audience. “The Emperor’s New Clothes” is a story of a girl who wants to make it rich by cheating a very vain Emperor. She meets many people along the way, has a few weavers to help her do the convincing and well, then, someone calls foul. Are they a fool?
One interesting note about the Antigo Youth Theater productions is the time it takes to put on the show. Students and staff, this year, will practice and produce the show in 11 days. It is a fast and furious ride. Kids work on their craft, while parents and community members design sets, get costumes, help learn music and in that short amount of time, you are able to see our wonderful youth shine.
We invite everyone to join us for the show.
