The Great Northern Conference named its 2016 all-conference baseball teams recently, with the highest honor, player of the year, given to Antigo infielder and pitcher Hunter Kirsch. Kirsch, completing his junior year this spring, was named first team all-conference along with seniors Max Nowinsky in the outfield and Nick Greening for his work on the mound.
Collin Meinert received dual honors, being named a first team all-conference utility player and second team infielder this season. Meinert also returns to the team as a senior next season.
Jake Husnick, one of two captains on the Robins along with Nowinsky, was named second team all-GNC catcher while Greening was also named second team infielder.
Alex Nagel and Brady Tatro received honorable mentions for the season. Be on the lookout for a complete season recap by Vern Cahak, including full stats and honors, coming to the Antigo Times soon.
