Mary Ann Mertens, of Antigo, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Evergreen Terrace. She was 85 years old. She was born on August 15, 1930 in the town of Ackley, a daughter of George and Rose (Smith) Wilcenski. She married John Mertens on July 2, 1967 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2013.

She was raised in the town of Ackley. Mary Ann worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company factory and Sheldon’s Inc. both in Antigo.

She was a member of SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church and it’s rosary society.

Mary Ann enjoyed being a homemaker, was an accomplished sewer and was devoted to her husband John.

Survivors include three sisters, Dorothy Gallenberg and her husband Dennis Carter, Summit Lake, Patricia Igl, Wausau, Sue (James) Krivoshein, Schofield; two brothers, Alois Wilcenski, town of Ackley, Edward (Rosemary) Wilcenski, Waukesha; two sisters-in-law, Marie Mertens, Antigo and Muriel Gill, Sheboygan; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by an infant sister Arlene Wilcenski; two brothers, John and Eugene Wilcenski.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday June 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. Entombment will take place at Queen of Peace Mausoleum.

Visitation will be Thursday at the Bradley Funeral Home beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding at 10:15 a.m. when the Rosary Society will conduct the rosary wake service.
