Richard “Dick” Bricco, 88
Richard G. Bricco, “Dick” of Polar, died Friday, June 10, 2016 at home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 88 years old. He was born on April 1, 1928 in White Lake, a son of George and Claudia (Smith) Bricco. He married Betty DeHart on August 4, 1956 at St. James Catholic Church in White Lake. The couple raised their family and lived on Mueller’s Lake for 60 years.
He was a graduate of White Lake High School with the class of 1946.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps from July 1946 to August 1949. He was in the Pacific Theatre during WWII and later stationed in Japan during the occupation of Japan working in communications.
Following military service he attended Technical School in Janesville receiving training as an airplane mechanic. He returned to White Lake and worked for Midwest Breeders in Langlade and Shawano Counties for 20 years. From 1973-1993 he delivered LP gas for Midland Co-operative.
Dick and Betty and the children took annual trips to the Rocky Mountains where they enjoyed hiking and camping. He was a licensed pilot and flew his Cessna airplane out of the Langlade County airport.
He valued his time spent outdoors participating in water skiing, snow skiing, boating, camping, fishing trips to Canada, hiking in the Rocky Mountains and the North Shore of Lake Superior.
He was well traveled in retirement having visited Cancun, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica and Hawaii.
He was a member of St. James and Stanislaus Catholic Parish and the Anderson-Sather American Legion Post #524, White Lake.
Survivors include his wife Betty, three daughters, Cherie (Kirby) Peterson, Merrill, Renee (Robert) Rettler, Wauwatosa, Jill (Jeffrey) Waters, Polar; two sons, Greg (Liesa) Bricco, Polar, Rick (Laura) Bricco, Appleton; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia (Edward) Wurzer, Appleton, Gloria (Shelvie) DeHart, Tigerton.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa “Terry” Bricco; his parents; two sisters, Betty Cosenza, and Rose Ann Hecker; a brother, Robert Bricco,
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 15, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St James Catholic Church with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery where military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #524.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
A parish wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
