Kathryn “Kathy” Thomae passed away in the evening on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at St. Clare’s Hospital where she lost more than a two year battle with cancer. Kathy was 59 years young; she was born on March 10, 1957, a daughter of the late Rolf and Margaret (Jape) Johnson. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1975 and had been a lifelong resident of Antigo

Kathy married Bruce Thomae on September 6, 1980 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo and on December 23, 1999, God blessed them with the arrival of her son Alexander, whom she cherished to the day of her passing. Kathy was employed for thirty eight years by Sheldon’s Mepp’s Lures of Antigo in the shrink packaging and assembly departments. She also took care of the book keeping of her husband’s construction business for that last 24 years. Kathy made every effort, even in the final weeks, to be with family and friends.

Her passions where; working as a leader in the local Boy Scout Troop, camping, waterfalls and gardening. Kathy enjoyed hiking or just a long walk and before her decline in health she was an avid downhill skier.

In addition to her husband and son, survivors include; 3 sisters, Delores Widder (Elmer Kettner), Beverly (Gerald) Spurgeon both of Antigo and Patricia Drabek of Longview, Washington also 2 brothers; William and Harold (Cindy) Widder both of Antigo, father and mother-in-law, Philip and Peggy Thomae of Antigo and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert and Richard Widder along with two infant sisters Janice and Judy Widder, grandparents George and Clara Johnson and Catherine and Gus Jape.

Kathy knew that she had a great number of friends and wished them and family not to think of her passing but of the days she enjoyed with them and hope they knew how much she loved them.

A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 13th at 6 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the church in Hoffmann Hall.

A private burial will take place by the immediate family.
