Michael L Berner, 62
Michael L Berner, 62 of Antigo died peacefully on Monday, July 18 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center with his family by his side after a life long battle with a rare kidney disease.
Michael was born on June 6, 1954 in Antigo, WI to Lloyd and Barbara (Brandt) Berner, they preceded him in death.
Mike is survived by a son, Kurt (Anita) Berner, Antigo and their children Kraig (Fiancé – Megan), Aeric and Luke Berner. A daughter, Tara (Kevin) Wickersheim, Antigo and their children Isabel Slagoski, David (Mia) Wickersheim, Joshua (Fiancé – Nicole) Wickersheim, Justin (Nari) Wickersheim and Elijah and Isaac Wickersheim; four great-grandchildren Jonathan, Emmett, Preston and Julian Wichersheim. Mike is further survived by 3 sisters Debbie (Bruce) Kluever – Woodruff, Susan (Doug) Ross – Plover, Mary (Rick) Zinda – Green Bay and several nieces and nephews.
Mike graduated from Antigo High School in 1972. He married Robin Smith in 1974 and they settled in Deerbrook raising their 2 children. The couple later divorced. Robin survives and lives in Antigo
Michael was a skilled carpenter and electrician in the Deerbrook, Elcho and Summit Lake Area until his health no longer allowed. Mike was given the gift of 8 additional years of life thanks to his generous sister Debbie Kluever donating him a kidney in 1998.
Mike had a passion for hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors and in recent years loved spending time with his special companion, Windy, a yellow lab.
A visitation will be held at Bradley Funeral Home on Friday July 22, 2016 beginning at 4 p.m. and concluding with a memorial service at 7 p.m.
