ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Monday, July 25th
4:10 PM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident on Century Street. There were no injuries. Property damage only.
7:18 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 6th Avenue and Superior Street. The male driver was issued a citation for operating without a license.
Tuesday, July 26th
6:19 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 6th Avenue and Morse Street. Officers reported that shots were fired and they were in pursuit of a vehicle westbound on 5th Avenue. The vehicle was a four door white Acura with truck plates. The vehicle then went westbound on Hwy. 64 at times reaching speeds of 120 mph. Stop sticks were deployed. The vehicle was stopped at Hwy. 64 and Hillview Road, just east of Merrill in Lincoln County where a standoff then occurred. The male subject was reported dead at 8:14 am. In Antigo, officers talked with several witnesses at the scene of the initial stop. Photographs were taken. Two .22 spent rounds were recovered at the scene.
1:34 PM Officers received a call from a male subject on Anderson Drive reporting that neighbors behind his residence were trimming trees on the lot line and were putting the trimmings on his property. The caller wanted them to remove the limbs from his property. Officers advised the neighbor of the complaint. He said that he would clean it up and would not do it again.
2:37 PM Officers responded to a call from the Antigo Public Library on Clermont Street requesting that an officer try to contact a female subject who currently had 130 items checked out among herself and her family. Twenty eight items were overdue with $121 in accrued fines and several more items were coming due within the next few days. They had tried to make contact with the female subject, but had been unsuccessful. Officers made contact with the female subject. She was advised of the complaint. She stated that she would get the items returned.
5:41 PM A subject came to the Safety Building with a syringe that they found at 2nd Avenue and Pine Street. It was placed in a sharps container.
6:14 PM Officers were out with two subjects fighting on the corner of 4th Avenue and Superior Street. It was a verbal argument only. The subjects were sent on their way.
7:26 PM Officers responded to a call from a male subject reporting that a tan Chevy Venture was all over the road on Hwy. 45 and Valley Vista Road. The driver from Rhinelander was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 4th offense, operating after revocation, failure to install ignition interlock device and a probation hold.
Wednesday, July 27th
6:42 AM Officers responded to an alarm going off at a residence on Freiburger Avenue and Mary Street. Nothing was missing. The house was secured.
7:40 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Neva Road reporting that a white van was parked there and it had some sort of wild animal in the back of it. Officers talked with the vehicle owner. They stated that the van was being used to transport fox and mink for a business.
1:13 PM Officers responded to a call reporting that a suspicious vehicle was parked on Clermont Street. The caller stated that two people were parked in a small gold vehicle. The caller tried to speak with the passenger who, they stated, could barely hold a cigarette in their mouth and the driver was passed out. Officers spoke to the two subjects. The male subject stated that he was waiting for the female subject and they were just hanging out. They claimed that neither of them drove there. They denied consent to search.
1:21 PM A used needle was found in the parking lot of an establishment on Superior Street.
2:54 PM Officers responded to a call from an associate of an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting that a female subject left the store without paying. She was driving a green Windstar van and left the lot going on Prosser Place. The female subject left her cellphone behind in a bag. Officers determined the owner of the phone. She was referred to the DA for retail theft and an arrest warrant was requested.
Thursday, July 28th
6:11 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Hwy. 45 and Industrial Park Rd. The driver was issued a citation for speed.
12:46 PM Officers responded to an accident on Neva Road and Washington Avenue. Car versus boat trailer. Property damage only.
10:30 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that there was a confused women with a walker, yelling as she walked down the middle of the road at N. Superior Street and Willard Avenue. Officers gave her a ride home.
Friday, July 29th
11:36 AM Officers responded to a call from an employee of an area business on Superior Street reporting that a female customer came to the walk up with a vehicle and smelled of alcohol. She left and went across the street. Officer located the vehicle across the street. The female driver was cited for operating after revocation (operating while intoxicated related). Officers gave her a ride home.
12:46 PM Officers received an anonymous complaint from a resident living on Dorr Street south of 5th Avenue reporting a loud motorcycle that speeds by numerous times a day. He stated that the motorcycle had already gone by six times that day. He requested extra patrol/radar enforcement.
2:15 PM Officers responded to a call from a subject reporting that a male subject in a silver Honda Sonata just blew a stop sign at S. Dorr Street and Forrest Avenue at about 60 mph and almost hit him. The caller stated that he had to slam on his brakes to avoid an accident. The male subject was stopped in the roadway. Officers cited the male driver for failure to yield the right of way.
2:41 PM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident in the parking lot of an area business on Hwy. 64. There were no injuries. A report was filled out.
4:21 PM Officers responded to a female caller reporting that two male subjects in a gray Audi came speeding past and were weaving all over the road at 10th Avenue and Superior Street. She believed that the driver was intoxicated. Officers stopped the vehicle. The driver was not intoxicated.
5:33 PM Officers responded to a call from a couple in the parking lot of an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting that their 2010 Chevy Impala was involved in a hit and run accident. It was witnessed by an employee of the business. The couple’s vehicle was hit by a female driving a Ford F150 truck.
5:34 PM A small black and brown dog found on Deleglise Street was brought to the Safety Building. The dog was taken to the Humane Society.
5:47 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Graham Avenue and Superior Street. The driver was issued citations for failure to fasten their seatbelt and provide proof of insurance.
8:10 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Superior Street reporting that a male subject tried to leave the store with paying for an item. The male subject was cited for retail theft.
Saturday, July 30th
2:33 AM Officers responded to a report of a male subject lying in the street on Dorr Street. He seemed to be very intoxicated. The male subject was not injured. Officers gave him a ride to his residence.
9:57 AM Officers responded to a call reporting that a needle was lying in the grass at 1st Avenue and Western Road.
10:56 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Superior Street reporting that a vehicle that left southbound on Superior Street failed to pay for $12.60 in fuel. Officers made phone contact with the female driver. She returned to the business to pay for the fuel.
9:39 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 7th Avenue. The driver was issued a citation for speed.
Sunday, July 31st
1:07 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting that a male subject left the store with paying for some items. He left in a red Ford Explorer going eastbound on Hwy. 64. Officers stopped the vehicle on Hwy. 64. The male driver was arrested for operating after revocation (operating while intoxicated related), and he was also referred for retail theft. The passenger was also arrested on Shawano County warrants.
4:41 PM Officers responded to a call from a female subject on Clermont Street reporting that a neighbor came over and stole a gas can. She stated that her son-in-law witnessed the person taking it. Officers located the male subject. He admitted taking the can. He was issued a citation for theft.
10:34 PM Officers were out with some people on 7th Avenue. Officers arrested a subject on a Department of Corrections warrant.
11:47 PM Officers responded to a request from jail staff to speak to a male inmate who was hit by a car while walking back to the jail from work. The male subject left work between 9:15-9:30 PM and was walking north on Wausau Road when a vehicle came up behind him at a high rate of speed, with no headlights on, and a loud stereo. The vehicle hit the male subject’s leg and he landed on the hood of the vehicle and then flew off and hit his head on the ground. The male subject told officers that it was a car, maybe silver in color. The vehicle continued down Wausau Road without stopping. Photos were taken of the male subject’s injuries.
Monday, August 1st
6:22 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at S. Superior Street and Forrest Avenue. The driver was issued a citation for speed.
7:15 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on 5th Avenue reporting that they had a break in last night. Money and cigarettes were taken. There were no signs of forced entry. Officers are investigating.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Thursday, July 28th
7:36 AM Officers responded to a call from a female subject reporting that an older dark blue Cutlass was driving eastbound on Hwy. 64 from Polar and it was all over the roadway, crossing the centerline, going off of the roadway and it had no lights on. The caller stated that there was a Subaru between the Cutlass and their vehicle. The Cutlass then turned around on Hwy. 64 and was trying to go westbound. The Subaru and the reporting vehicle blocked the roadway. The driver of the Cutlass then drove around them and went in the ditch on the south side of Hwy. 64. The male subject then got out of the vehicle and walked north to a residence on Smokey Road. Officers made a forced entry to the residence. The male subject was taken into custody at 7:57 Am for operating while intoxicated, 2nd offense, multiple counts of felony bail jumping, possession of drug paraphernalia and prescription violations. He was transported to Aspirus Langlade Hospital for a blood draw. The vehicle was towed.
Friday, July 29th
7:17 AM Officers received reports from motorists of 5 to 6 steers in the roadway on Hillside Road. A female subject called officers. She stated that she had received a call around midnight from the Sheriff’s Department, but she just listened to the voicemail now. She told officers that she would check the area. Officers then received another call from a male subject who stated that he the cows in a fenced in area and would hold onto them until the owner could get there.
8:12 AM Officers responded to a call from a male subject reporting that an older male driving a silver Chevy Silverado was northbound on Hwy. 45 south of Hwy. D. The caller stated that the truck was dragging its fuel tank and fuel was leaking all over the road. While on the phone, the truck then pulled off onto Hwy. D and stopped. The vehicle was gone when officers arrived at that location. The vehicle was located on Superior Street south of 10th Avenue. The male driver had already notified someone for a tow.
11:51 PM Officers received a call from a male subject from Gleason reporting that he hit a bear at Cty. Hwy. H & Spring Road. A voluntary report was filed.
Saturday, July 30th
2:56 PM Officer took a criminal damage report at the Langlade County fairgrounds on Neva Road from one of the vendors who reported that two outdoor boilers were damaged sometime after the fair closed on Friday and that morning. Two digital control panels valued at $450 each were damaged and need to be replaced. There were no suspects at that time.
3:04 PM Officers received a call from a male subject on Hwy. 45 reporting that an unknown vehicle struck a bear in front of his residence and left the scene. The caller requested a tag for the bear. A tag was issued.
Sunday, July 31st
2:54 AM Officers were out with a vehicle in the parking lot of an area business on Neva Road. The individuals in the vehicle were trying to find Pokeman.
4:11 PM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident at Cty. Hwy. F and Meadow Road. An ambulance was called for minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed. The driver of one vehicle was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
4:37 PM Officers responded to a call from an off duty officer reporting a two vehicle accident at St. Hwy. 45 and Cty. Hwy. B in Neva. One vehicle rear-ended the other vehicle. Both vehicles were towed.
9:52 PM Officers responded to an anonymous complaint of fireworks going off at the corner of Highways 64 and 55. Officers warned the subjects. They told officers that they would not be lighting off anymore.
Monday, August 1st
2:52 AM Officers responded to a call from a male subject reporting that a white Chevy vehicle was crossing fogline & centerline driving southbound on Hwy. A from Hwy. TT. The caller also stated that the vehicle had almost missed some curves. Officers stopped the female driver. She was warned about her driving habits and was issued a ten day correction for registration. The officer followed her into town. Her driving was fine at that point.
9:30 PM Officers received a call from a male subject reporting that he had struck a bear on Hwy. 64. A state report was filled out.
10:12 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 55 reporting that a vehicle struck a tree next to the business and the vehicle was on fire. It was unknown at the time if anyone was inside. Officers arrested the male driver for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense. A state report was completed. The vehicle was a total loss.
Tuesday, August 2nd
10:44 PM Officers responded to a 911 call from a female subject requesting an ambulance. She stated that she was involved in a four wheeler accident on Sawyer Road approximately 2 miles east of Hwy. 55. She had a chest injury, pain and possibly a broken collar bone. A male subject was the driver of the four wheeler. When officers later talked to the female, she stated that the accident actually occurred on one of the corners just north of Sawyer Lake Road on Diamond Roof Road. The female subject was transferred the Wausau Aspirus hospital for her extensive injuries.
Wednesday, August 3rd
12:02 PM Officers received a call from an employee of an area business on Hwy. 45 in Elcho reporting a gas drive off of $53.73. The vehicle was a white Cadillac Escalade. Officers were given the license plate number. The vehicle left eastbound on Hwy. K. The caller told officers that it appeared intentional. Officers contacted the listed owner of the vehicle and left them a message to call.
