Antigo Veterinary Clinic hosting annual fundraiser for Raptor Education Group
By Craig Marx, Editor
For those wishing to help support local birds through care, rehabilitation, and education, while also having the chance at some amazing prizes, the Antigo Veterinary Clinic is sponsoring its third annual “Fly into Fall” event to support the local Raptor Education Group.
The Raptor Education Group, Inc. (known by its acronym REGI) is a non-profit organization specializing in the “care and rehabilitation of injured or orphaned native bird species and public education of wildlife issues,” according to its website.
Located just south of Antigo, executive directors Marge and Don Gibson administer and oversee the recovery and educational facility that is opened to public tours two days a week. Marge is noted throughout the ornithological world having worked with the California Condor Recovery Team as well as working with bald eagles in Alaska following the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989.
Taking place on Saturday, Sept. 24th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Antigo Veterinary Clinic, the Fly into Fall promotion will feature a fundraising raffle that includes a grand prize of $5,000 worth of pet care from the AVC, which can used for virtually any exam or procedure that the clinic has to offer.
REGI’s raptors will also be on display, along with food and a silent auction. The fundraiser is still looking for donations for its silent auction – for interested volunteers, please drop off prize baskets at either the REGI facility or the vet clinic.
