Gary Spray died Thursday, August 18, 2016, at the age of 75, at his home in Summit Lake under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice, after courageously battling cancer.

Gary was born on July 5, 1941 in Wakefield, Michigan to the late Edward Spray and Goldie (Eades) Winkel. In 1972 Gary was united in marriage to Ruth Jenkins.

In his early years, Gary owned and operated a shrimp and lobster boat. He then worked in construction building homes for the majority of his working years, all of which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Following an injury due to a hunting accident, Gary devoted his time and care to his family. He loved fishing, hunting, trips to the casino, and time with his grandchildren.

Survivors in addition to his wife include 2 daughters, Melissa (Jeremy Theisen) Spray of Antigo, Anastacia (Ron) Berns of Colorado; 4 sons, Daniel (Stephanie Swan) Spray of Antigo, Jeff Spray of Connecticut, Gary Spray Jr. of Connecticut, and Matthew Spray of Edgerton, Wisconsin; 7 sisters, Pat (Nelson) Fay, Lois Hill, Sally (Jim) Trotier, Gail (Dom) Cinfio, and Lynn Kuhlman; a brother-in-law Louis Hallock; and 15 grandchildren, Tyler and Cassandra Bostwick, Tanner Theisen, Mason Spray, Baileigh Steckbauer, Emily, Molly, Katie, and Payton Berns, Bradley, Nancy Sue, Christina, Heather, Michael, and Kristen Spray.

In Addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his son John Spray, his brother Jack Spray, and his 2 sisters, Goldie Hallock and June Hazelquist.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Saturday, August 27th from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Indian Mounds State Park in Lake Tomahawk.
