Janice Opheim, a wonderful woman, who lived and enjoyed a wonderful life passed away at her home on August 29, 2016. She was 91.

Janice was born December 3, 1924 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Clifford and Ethel Smith.

Janice graduated from the University of South Dakota. While attending college she was a proud Phi Beta Phi sorority sister. After graduation she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she was an airline stewardess, a job she loved.

On December 27, 1948 she married her high school sweetheart, Earl Opheim. With joy and laughter they shared 67 years together as husband and wife, parents, grandparents and best friends. They moved to their new home town, Antigo, WI in January of 1957 a cold awakening from living in Memphis, Tennessee. Janice became active in Antigo Women’s Club, Colonial Club, Calvary Lutheran Church, numerous bridge clubs and PTA where she met many new people who became lifetime friends. Janice had a passion for bicycle riding, if it was not raining or snowing her day began with a bike ride. She loved; skiing at Kettlebowl, golfing, swimming, dancing, gardening, Tuesday morning coffee club with her girlfriends and summers at Duck Lake, winters in Florida. She was an avid reader and a gifted seamstress.

Janice will be deeply missed by Earl and their three children; Patricia (Robert) Wood, Kristin, John (Maribeth) and grandchildren; Zackary and Sarah Opheim.

A private family service is scheduled.
