William J. Mattek, 78

William J. Mattek of Deerbrook died peacefully August 3rd at Four Winds Manor, Verona, WI with his beloved partner present.

Bill was born in Neva, WI on March 6, 1938 to Edward and Josephine (Perry) Mattek. He retired to Bass Lake after a long and successful business career in international marketing. He graduated from Antigo High School (’56) and obtained his bachelor’s degree and MBA form Marquette University.

An international traveler, Bill visited more than 73 countries. He served in the National Guard and Peace Corps. Bill was a former employee of Mattek’s Store, Rexnord, Gallenberg Equipment, Antigo Construction and North Central Technical College. He also served as past president of the World Trade Association of Milwaukee.

A good-natured man, Bill was an active member of the community. He was a member of The Elks Club, Langlade County Historical Society, Northwoods Tractor Club, Bass Lake Protection Association and Bass Lake Country Club Board of Directors.

Bill is survived by his partner of 28 years, Mary Lou Feller; his son and spouse, Drs. Patric and Kelly Mattek; his grandchildren, Jackson and Margaux; Patric’s mother, Patricia Urli Mattek. Bill also has two grandchildren, Gabriella and Leonardo, from Mary Lou’s family. He is further survived by his sisters, Merdith (John) Sotiros and Elizabeth Wagner.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Perry; and brother-in-law, Arnott Wagner.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, September 9 at 11:00 AM at St. Wencel Catholic Church in Neva. Father Jeremiah Worman will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service on Friday at the church.

The family would like to thank the Four Winds Manor for their support and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Four Winds Manor at 303 S. Jefferson Street, Verona, WI 53593 or a charity of your choice.
