Antigo Police and Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 9/12/16
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Monday, August 29th
12:29 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting that a male subject came in and tried to cash an Instagram check. The check won’t go through. The male then said that there was a white man outside with a gun that would shoot him if he didn’t bring the money. The business then called back and advised officers that there were two men in a silver SUV in the parking lot associated with the other male subject. Officers talked with all three men. They were all from Milwaukee. The male subject that was inside the store changed his story many times. It was determined that no one was in danger. Officers brought the male subject from inside the store to the Safety Building to get a different ride. He left on his own. At approximately 4:30 PM, personnel at the Safety Building heard banging on a bathroom door. The male subject was locked inside and could not get out. Officers got the door open. The male subject was agitated. He was taken to Langlade Hospital.
2:06 PM Officers responded to a call from a female subject on 2nd Avenue reporting that some items were stolen from her vehicle. The items were taken between 7:00 PM on 8/28/16 and 7:30 AM on 8/29/16. The vehicle was parked in her driveway. She forgot to lock the vehicle. Items taken included 100 tablets of medication, $10 and some change. A statement was taken.
3:31 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Superior Street reporting that an older black vehicle with two male subjects inside, was sitting in an alleyway for 30 minutes. Officers identified the subjects and they were told to move along.
4:02 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Washington Avenue. The male driver was issued a citation for failure to fasten seatbelt and a warning for an expired registration.
4:11 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 2nd Avenue. The driver was issued a citation for failure to fasten seatbelt.
4:24 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 3rd Avenue and Arctic Street. Officers issued two citations for failure to fasten seatbelt.
4:29 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Field Street. The driver was issued a citation for operating without a valid driver’s license.
4:38 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 2nd Avenue and Arctic Street. The driver was issued a citation for failure to fasten seatbelt.
4:51 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Kaplanek Avenue. The driver was issued a citation for speed.
4:52 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at North Avenue and Clermont Street. The driver was issued a citation for speed.
5:05 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Kelly Street. Officers issued citation for failure to fasten seatbelt.
5:43 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at an area business on Superior Street. The male driver was issued a citation for failure to fasten seatbelt.
5:47 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Badger Avenue. The driver was issued a citation for failure to fasten seatbelt.
5:56 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Washington Avenue. The driver was issued a written warning for speed.
6:00 PM Offices stopped a vehicle at 3rd Avenue and Superior Street. The driver was issued a citation for failure to fasten seatbelt.
6:07 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 10th Avenue and Dorr Street. The passenger was issued a citation for failure to fasten seatbelt.
6:10 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Mendlik Avenue. The driver was issued a citation for failure to fasten seatbelt.
6:35 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and Graham Avenue. The driver was issued a citation for failure to fasten seatbelt.
6:51 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Edison Street. The driver was issued a citation for failure to fasten seatbelt.
8:08 PM Officers were flagged down by a citizen and advised of an abatement issue on Deleglise Street. Officers advised the owner of the truck that was in the front yard on blocks, covering the sidewalk that it had to be moved by the next day.
9:40 PM Officers stopped a vehicle in the lot of an area business on Hwy. 64. The driver was issued a written warning for speed.
11:37 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Washington Avenue. The driver was given a 10 day correction warning for an expired registration.
Tuesday, August 30th
1:24 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Superior Street reporting that a stray dog had wandered into their building. It was an older golden lab/retriever mix with a chain collar. The dog was taken to the Humane Society.
5:03 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy.64 that they had two female shoplifters. One was in the office, not causing problems & the other one was in a purple van by one of the entrances. Officers cited one of the female subjects for retail theft. The other female subject was referred for retail theft.
Wednesday, August 31st
9:32 AM Officers responded to a 911 call from an area business on Clermont Street. The caller was sitting at a computer inside the business when they noticed smoke rolling up one of the walls. Antigo Fire Department and members of the Rural Fire Control responded.
1:26 PM Officers received a call from a male on 9th Avenue reporting theft from his girlfriend’s car. On the evening of 8/29/16 two plastic rectangular pieces were removed from her Buick Rendezvous. The pieces were clipped on the rear doors. The replacement cost for the pieces was $130 per piece. Officers were advised.
8:18 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Superior Street reporting a gas drive off about 8 minutes earlier. The subject did not pay for $10 worth of gas. The vehicle was described as a maroon S10 Blazer, late 90’s/00’s. The driver was described as a short female, 45 to 50 years old. The vehicle left northbound on Superior Street. Officers were unable to locate.
9:03 PM Officers stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of an area business on Superior Street. The driver was issued a citation for failure to use a turn signal.
9:28 PM Officers responded to a call reporting that a black SUV was driving on the wrong side of the road. The vehicle was northbound on Graham Avenue from Arctic Street. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
9:35 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting fraud on a gaming machine. A male subject told an employee that he had won money on the machine, but when the employee checked the machine, no money had been put into the machine. The caller told officers that the male subject was driving a red sedan, which was now parked at another area business on Hwy. 64. Officers questioned two men, but neither were involved in the incident.
Thursday, September 1st
6:29 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Clermont Street and Century Avenue. The female driver was issued citations for operating while suspended and no proof of insurance.
8:07 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 10th Avenue and Superior Street. The driver was issued a citation failure to fasten seatbelt and was warned for failure to yield right of way.
9:08 AM A female subject came to the Safety Building to report that her purse was stolen from her vehicle on Lincoln Street the night before. The truck was unlocked in her driveway. A statement was taken.
1:31 PM Officers responded to a call from the owner of an area business on Dorr Street reporting that they were broken into the night before and items were missing. After 6:00 PM, someone pried opened the door on the west side of the garage and opened the door on the east side. The caller told officers that they have had problems in the past with damage to vehicles and the dumping of garbage. Officers advised them to install a camera. Officers would step up enforcement of the area.
7:12 PM A male subject came to the Safety Building to report that he was in an altercation with another male subject at the skateboard park on 2nd Avenue. Officers located the other male subject who admitted to the fight, but denied starting it. The reporting male went to the emergency room of Langlade Hospital. The information was forwarded the district attorney. Officers did not feel that charges were warranted at that time.
10:03 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting a shoplifter. They reported that a male subject tried to take a bottle of cough syrup. He then took off. Officers watched the video from the business. The male subject was located at another area business on Hwy. 64. He was referred to the district attorney for retail theft.
Friday, September 2nd
1:19 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Edison Street reporting a fight between two male subjects in the business. Officers separated the two subjects. They walked home.
10:49 AM Officers responded to call from a male reporting that a Dodge Caravan driving on Hwy. 64 had left the road a couple of times. Officers spoke with the female driver. She stated that she was just tired and she would rest before driving again.
5:13 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 1st Avenue and Western Road. The driver was issued a citation for speed.
5:44 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 10th Avenue and Western Road. The driver was issued a citation for speed. Traffic education class was offered.
6:52 PM Officers responded to a call from a male subject reporting a two vehicle accident at an area business on Hwy. 45. Minor damage only. An voluntary report was completed.
10:23 PM Officers responded to a call from a female subject reporting a possible drunk driver. The vehicle was southbound on Hwy. 45. It was crossing the center line and fog line and was varying in speed from 40 to 70 miles per hour. Officers stopped the vehicle at Neva Road and Mendlik Avenue. The driver was not intoxicated.
11:05 PM Officers responded to a report of a male subject intoxicated on a bicycle, tipped over behind an area business on 5th Avenue. He was bleeding, but did not need an ambulance. Officers arrested the male subject on a probation hold and he was transported to Corrections.
Saturday, September 3rd
12:20 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on 5th Avenue requesting officers to remove a male subject from the business. Officers sent the male subject on his way.
1:27 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 8th Avenue. The driver was cited for no proof of insurance and was given a written warning for a defective head light.
2:53 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Kaplanek Avenue. The driver was given a written warning for a cracked tail light.
4:25 AM Officers were attempting to catch up with a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed through the city. Officers stopped the vehicle. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated, 1st offense.
Sunday, September 4th
12:59 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Hudson Street. The driver was issued a citation for speed.
11:36 AM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident in the parking lot of an area business on Hwy. 64. Property damage only. An accident report was filed.
2:24 PM Officers responded to numerous calls reporting that a male motorcyclist went down in the roadway on Hwy. 45. He was wearing a helmet and was conscious. He received only minor injuries. A state report was filed.
6:47 PM Officers responded to a call from a male subject reporting that a green Ford F150 pickup, covered in mud, was southbound on Hwy. 45N and had entered the ditch several times and also traveled in both southbound lanes. The vehicle continued through Antigo and was last seen by Forrest Avenue. Officers attempted to locate. A teletype was sent to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office about the vehicle.
11:14 PM Officers responded to a call reporting an argument going on in a backyard on Edison Street. After several questions and fighting in the background, dispatch spoke with another party that said that the argument was occurring on Lincoln Street and that the reporting person was upset and confused. A female had hit her in the face and attacked other people. Officers arrested a female subject for disorderly conduct.
Monday, September 5th
12:13 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Deleglise Street and 3rd Avenue. The driver was cited for operating while suspended.
Tuesday, September 6th
10:32 AM Officers received a call from a male subject reporting that his 2005 Chevy truck was struck while parked in the parking lot of an area business on Hwy. 64 on 9/2/16 at approximately 9:30 to 9:45 AM. A voluntary report was filed.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Tuesday, August 30th
11:43 PM Officers responded to a call from a male subject reporting that he went off the road in front of an area business on Hwy. 45 after blowing a tire on his Dodge van. A tow truck was called. It was determined that the vehicle’s brake line burst while driving causing the accident. The male driver may receive a citation for expired registration. Officers received a call from the area business on Hwy. 45 reporting damage from the accident to shed that was in front of the business. The male subject and the owner of the shed worked out a deal for compensation.
Wednesday, August 31st
11:31 AM Officers received a call from a male subject reporting that while biking on Hwy. 45, he saw a vehicle that every so often a “white puff of smoke” came out of it. The caller stated that he had learned that often methamphetamine is produced in a vehicle and that subjects just drive around while cooking it. The vehicle was described as a dark blue van. It turned eastbound on Cty Rd. D from Hwy. 45. Officers were unable to locate.
Friday, September 2nd
12:17 PM A female from an area business in Deerbrook came to the Safety Building to report fraud to her business of three checks totally $8,364.90. The checks were made out to three different people with three different addresses. The checks were similar the businesses’ checks but the suspect used a false phone number and other small details. These checks were cashed in November and December of 2015. Officers were contacting the bank for more information.
Saturday, September 3rd
4:35 PM Officers received a call from the Langlade Hospital ER reporting that they had a 10 year old patient there with a BB gunshot wound in the leg. The male victim was accidentally shot by his 9 year old friend. The mother of the victim stated that she may have startled the friend causing him to accidentally pull the trigger.
4:55 PM Officers responded to a call from a male subject from Newton, WI calling from his cabin on Enterprise Lake Road reporting that he crashed his car about 2.5 hours ago about 2 to 3 miles down the road. He stated that his vehicle was totaled and he needed a wrecker. The vehicle was at his cabin. He was able to get the car that far. The subject was not injured. Mailboxes were struck on Enterprise Lake Road. The male subject stated that he had driven from southern Wisconsin and more than likely fell asleep. Officers did not detect any alcohol. The subject was advised that he would be cited.
Sunday, September 4th
12:23 AM Officers responded to a 911 recording reporting an accident involving a Ford vehicle. 911 showed the location as Cty. Rd. B & Bogus Road. Dispatch called the phone number. A male party said hello, but then hung up. Officers were unable to locate the driver of the vehicle who left the scene. A power line was down on Cty. Rd. B. WPS was notified. Officers went to the owner of the vehicle’s last known residence. No one answered the door, no one answered the phone. Officers checked with area hospitals. The male subject came to the Safety Building to give a statement. He was uncooperative and would not answer any questions regarding the events that happened after the accident. The male subject was cited for failure to report an accident, failure to maintain control of a vehicle and hit & run property adjacent to highway.
5:12 PM Officers received a call from a male subject on Polar Road reporting that his car dolly was missing. It was taken sometime within the last couple of weeks. It was a two wheel trailer with brown ramps and no fenders. The tongue and undercarriage were cream colored. It was valued at approximately $300. The male subject last used it about six weeks ago.
9:27 PM Officers received a call from a female on Hwy. 64 reporting that her son chased a few trespassers out of their barn. The trespassers ran through their corn field to the west onto a side road toward Elton. The incident occurred about one hour prior to her calling. The female subject requested an extra patrol. Officers were advised.
Wednesday, September 7th
8:51 AM Officers received a call from the White Lake Post Office reporting that a female subject struck a pole in front of the post office. The female subject also called to report that she hit the telephone pole. She reported no injuries and some damage to the front end of her 2009 Honda Civic. Verizon was notified by the post office about the pole.
10:27 AM A male subject came to the Safety Building to report fraud. There had been some charges on his account that were not his. Officers were investigating.
