Antigo Police & Langlade Co Sheriff Reports for 9/19/16
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Tuesday, September 6th
1:50 PM A female subject came to the Safety Building to report fraudulent charges on her credit card in the amount of $204.31. She had already contacted the credit card company and they were investigating. She was advised by the credit card company to report this incident to the police. A copy of the incident was forwarded to the credit card company.
6:08 PM Officers received a call from a female subject reporting that while she was at an area business on Superior Street, a woman left her two to three year old child in the car with the car running. The caller stated that when the woman returned to the car, she stomped her foot and dropped her hands as if she forgot her child in the car the caller believed. Officers were advised.
Wednesday, September 7th
7:41 AM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident at 7th Avenue and Superior Street. Vehicle two was traveling southbound on Superior Street in the inside lane, vehicle one was making a right turn onto Superior from 6th Avenue. Vehicle one turned too wide into the inside lane and vehicle two hit vehicle one. Property damage only. An accident report was filed.
12:27 AM Officers responded to 911 call reporting a hit and run accident by Langlade Road and Flight Road. The caller stated that the vehicle went into the ditch, hit a telephone pole and failed to stop. The vehicle was described as a gray Dodge pickup. Officers notified the Street Department about the city power pole. The male driver of the pickup called officers at 12:41 PM to report that he was involved in the accident. He told officers that he had something stuck in his contact, lost control of the vehicle, got scared and drove home. Officers were advised.
12:29 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on 5th Avenue reporting a male shoplifter on video. The male subject was identified. He admitted to taking food because he was hungry. He was cited for retail theft and told not to return.
3:04 PM Officers responded to a report of seven or so feral cats running in traffic at 9th Avenue and Deleglise Street. The owner was advised of the ordinance on having a restricted number of cats. He said that he would take care of it.
3:11 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 10th Avenue and Deleglise Street. The female driver was issued a citation for speed.
Thursday, September 8th
11:17 AM A female subject came to the Safety Building to report possible internet fraud. She stated that her daughters were approached by who they thought was a female on Facebook who said that she was a modeling agency. The “female” subject wanted the girls to send photos of themselves in underwear and swim suits and they would receive money. The female subject now thought that this was a male subject, possible a sex offender. Officers were investigating.
1:39 PM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident in the parking lot of an area business on Superior Street. Vehicle two was stopped at the exit of the parking lot waiting for traffic to clear to proceed out of the lot. Vehicle one backed out of its parking spot and into vehicle two. Property damage only.
4:34 PM Officers responded to an anonymous call reporting that kids were throwing rocks at cars by a vacant building on Superior Street. Officers were advised. Officers located four juveniles. All the kids were warned. There was no damage to any vehicles.
5:16 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Lincoln Street. The male driver was cited for speed.
7:52 PM Officers responded to an anonymous complaint of five dogs outside barking and loose on the sidewalk at a residence on N. Superior Street. The owner of the dogs was not home per the reporting person. An abatement letter was sent to owner for having more than three dogs.
Friday, September 9th
12:50 AM Officers stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of an area business on Superior Street. Officers arrested a male subject for operating after revocation, a warrant from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, and possession of marijuana. The Antigo police dog had been deployed on the vehicle and was alerted.
10:38 AM Officers responded to a two vehicle accident in the parking lot of an area business on Neva Road. Vehicle two stopped behind vehicle one. Vehicle one backed from its parking spot, didn’t see vehicle two and struck vehicle two causing moderate damage to the driver’s side rear bumper. Vehicle one sustained minor damage to the driver’s side rear bumper. There were no injuries. One driver was cited for no insurance. A state report was filed.
1:29 PM A male subject came to the Safety Building to report that someone damaged his vehicle while it was parked at his residence on 10th Avenue in the early morning of September 8th. There were scratches on the hood, trunk lid, rear spoiler and passenger side rear fender.
3:09 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 1st Avenue and Deleglise Street. The male driver was cited for speed.
6:47 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Ackley Street and Neva Road. The female driver was cited for speed.
9:20 PM Officers received a call from a female subject on Langlade Road reporting that she was outside and heard loud noises that might have been gunshots. She could also hear someone yelling something. Officers were advised.
10:40 PM A male juvenile and his mother came to the Safety Building to report that his scooter was taken from Schofield Stadium. Officers talked with seven juvenile male subjects numerous times. One male subject finally admitted to taking the scooter. The scooter was recovered.
Saturday, September 10th
4:52 AM Officers located an area where a vehicle went off the road on Superior Street, just north of Graham Avenue. The lawn was torn up and there was a piece of rim broke off. Officers searched for a vehicle with a flat tire. They were unable to locate.
5:04 AM Officers were out on the corner of 4th Avenue and Dorr Street. Two male subjects were issued citations for open intoxicants off premises.
6:26 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that a vehicle hit a tree at 6th Avenue and Dorr Street. The vehicle was described as a Chevy SUV. The male driver was out of the vehicle. He was described as 6 feet tall, wearing a gray hoodie or jacket. There was damage to the front of his vehicle. The male subject actually hit a light pole. There was damage to the pole. WPS was notified. It was a very minor personal injury accident. The male subject had a swollen lip. The subject stated that his brakes failed as he came to the intersection and the pedal went to the floor. He swerved to miss the trees, but hit the pole.
9:46 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and Willard Avenue. The male driver was issued a citation for speed.
11:46 PM Officers were out with a vehicle in the parking lot of an area business on Neva Road. Officers spoke with vehicle owner about illegal lights on his vehicle.
11:48 PM Officers responded to an anonymous report of a white male, approximately 6’1” tall, thin, wearing a dark hoodie and baseball cap who was taunting people and talking filthy to the reporting person’s wife at the park at 5th Avenue and Clermont Street. The caller asked the male subject to leave, but he was still there sitting on a bench. Officers gave the male subject a ride to a residence on Superior Street. He was very intoxicated.
Sunday, September 11th
4:35 AM Officers responded to a call from a female employee of an area business on 5th Avenue stating that two male subjects knocked on the door stating that one of them was beat up and a subject threatened them with a gun. The caller stated that the male party that beat up the other male subject was just outside the business. He was described as in his 20’s with blond hair and wearing a dark shirt. Officers arrested the male subject for disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Monday, September 12th
3:29 PM Officers responded to a report from a female subject that a window of her 2014 Subaru Crosstrek was broken while it was parked at 4th Avenue and Clermont Street. Nothing else seemed to be missing. Pictures were taken. There were no suspects.
5:32 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that there was a young male subject shooting a pellet gun in a parking lot on Superior Street. Officers informed the male subject that he has to use the shooting range from now on.
8:34 PM Officers responded to a call from a female subject on Arctic Street reporting that a skunk tried to attack her son and their dog. Officers were unable to locate the skunk.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Thursday, September 8th
6:06 PM Officers received an anonymous call about an older burgundy car traveling northbound on Hwy. 45 with a young child hanging out of the window almost to their waist. The vehicle had been traveling around 70 mph. The vehicle then turned on Knight Road. Officers were advised.
Friday, September 9th
2:55 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Hwy. 45 and Cty. Rd. B. The female driver was cited for operating after revocation and taken to Corrections.
Saturday, September 10th
8:43 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Cty. Rd. K and Luther Lane. The male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense.
Sunday, September 11th
2:42 AM Officers responded to a call from a male on Cty. Rd. A reporting that a male subject had been in a car accident south of his residence and walked to his house to call. Officers talked with the driver who said that he flipped his vehicle, but was not injured. The vehicle was towed. The male subject was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 4th offense.
7:17 PM Officers responded to a call from a male on Hwy. 64 reporting that someone had trespassed on his sister-in-law’s land next door. It was unknown who it was, but they left geese hanging in the trees. There were a total of 27 geese and 2 ducks found dead on the property. 12 were found on the caller’s sister-in-law’s property and the rest were found on land owned by another individual. These properties are divided by a logging road. Officers were following up with the other property owner to see if they allowed anyone to hunt on their property. A copy of the report was forwarded to the DNR.
Monday, September 12th
8:07 PM Officers received a call from a female subject on Hwy. 47 reporting that a cougar attacked her horse. She stated that the horse had bite marks around its neck area and gashes and scratches on its legs. She stated that the horse had jumped the fence. Officers told the female to contact her veterinary office and the DNR. The female subject later called the officers back and asked them to take photos of the horse’s wounds. She stated that she was only able to leave a message with the DNR. Officers told her that she could take the photos and that leaving a message with the DNR was the correct thing to do. The DNR has a separate company/person that would be doing the investigation.
Tuesday, September 13th
9:56 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she was turning northbound at St. Hwy. 45/47, when the driver of a red GMC Canyon turned northbound on Hwy. 45 from W. Bear Lake Road and almost rear-ended her. The vehicle then continued northbound at a high rate of speed. Officers located the vehicle at an establishment on 5th Avenue in Antigo. Citations were issued.
