Edmund Wreczycki, 76
Edmund “Sonny” Wreczycki, of Pearson, died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at home. He was 76 years old. He was born on June 19, 1940 in Sangerhausen, Germany, a son of Josef and Maria (Swierczynska) Wreczycki. He married Maureen “Mimi” Humphrey on September 16, 1967 in Milwaukee. She survives.
He attended South Division High School in Milwaukee and served in the United States Army from 1959 – 1961.
Following military service he returned to Milwaukee and worked as a salesman at Humphrey Enterprises Inc. until 1973. In 1975 he began employment at Reynolds Buildings Products Inc. as salesman and later general manager of the Wisconsin service center, retiring in 1984. He moved to Pearson after retirement.
He was passionate about protecting the environment. He was active with the Rolling Stone Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District where he served as chairman from 1979-1985. He was a member of the Langlade County Waterways Association. Sonny also volunteered for the town of Ainsworth in various capacities.
He enjoyed photography, especially photographing wildlife.
Survivors including his wife are two brothers, Stanley (Barbara) Wreczycki of Milwaukee, Peter Wreczycki of Milwaukee; a sister, Chris (Thomas) Ksobiech of Mukwonago; one sister-in-law Mickey (Craig) Ashmun, two brothers-in-law Gerry (Debby) Humphrey and Jay (Terry) Humphrey, all of San Rafael, California; plus nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Rita Wreczycki.
Visitation will be Tuesday September 27, 2016 from 1 – 2:30 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with sharing of memories at 2:30 p.m. Military honors, conducted by Antigo Veterans, will follow.
