Walter “Bill” William Lenzner, 87
Walter ‘Bill’ W. Lenzner, 87, formerly of Birnamwood, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg.
He was born on April 24, 1929 in Antigo, the son of the late Leo and Anna (Kuhr) Lenzner.
Bill served in the United States Air Force.
On June 10, 1950, Bill was united in marriage to Phyllis Armstrong. She preceded him in death on October 31, 2015.
Bill and Phyllis farmed in the town of Aniwa and also operated Melody Mill for a few years. Bill drove truck for a few different companies through the years. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, feeding and watching his deer and going to Robert’s Lake. Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren and always tried to make it to any event that the kids were in.
Survivors include three children, Diane Bernarde, Thorp, Dan (Jody) Lenzner, Aniwa and Walter ‘Wally’ (Cindy) Lenzner, Eland; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Lorraine Resch and Catherine Kautza. He is also survived by in-laws and many other relatives.
In addition to his wife and parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, David Lenzner and his siblings, Mabel Noskowiak, Roy Lenzner, Robert Lenzner, Ralph Lenzner, June Resch and Richard Lenzner.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1pm on Friday, September 30, 2016 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Birnamwood. Rev. Charles Hoffman will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:30am until the time of services at the church. Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
