A structure fire enveloped numerous buildings at a Gleason farmstead last night and was still smoldering this afternoon, but, as reported by the Langlade County Sheriff’s Office, a body was also recovered from inside the blaze.
Two State Fire Marshals were on the scene early Tuesday afternoon investigating the burnt ruins of the barn and house, located in northwestern Langlade County on Hwy. H. Town of Russell fire personnel, located in adjacent Lincoln County, were the first ones to report to the blaze followed by Langlade County sheriffs.
According to sheriff reports submitted on Tuesday morning, a 911 call was recorded last night of a family member reporting that an occupant at the house started a fire and was suicidal. The believed ex-wife of the deceased spoke with a man last evening, indicating suicidal intentions.
The sheriff’s office is currently waiting on an autopsy and arson investigation to be completed.
